The following was written by one of our new deacons in the Presbyterian Reformed Church here in S. Jersey, Peter Rivera, introducing our congregation’s abortion clinic outreach. Peter has helped a lot with my parish mission work, and this partner project has proved a great opportunity as well. Please keep him and all of us in your prayers.

The need for this ministry became especially clear as we witnessed the horrors of abortion, with thousands of children being killed worldwide and especially here in the USA. This deeply troubled our hearts and motivated us to seek out the most consistent and faithful way to address this urgent issue. We prayed, researched, and discussed as a family, trying to discern how God would have us respond. Through our search, we became convinced that the only true way to fight evil and darkness is through God’s word and by relying on His power, as Romans 1:16 says: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” We committed to be faithful, even in the simplicity of God’s kingdom, by sharing the good news with our neighbors and doing what was necessary and biblical to save both babies and families. Our goal was not only to see lives spared, but also to see hearts transformed, encouraging repentance and belief in the Gospel.
My name is Pedro Nathan Rivera. My friends and family members call me Peter, and I am a member of the local church of the Presbyterian Reformed Church (PRC) of Corbin City. I have always been passionate about serving others, sharing the good news, and caring for the weak. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic, my family and I began an outreach ministry in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. The circumstances were difficult, and we faced many doubts and uncertainties about how this ministry would develop. Nevertheless, we moved forward tentatively but with a deep trust in God’s sovereignty and guidance.
Over time, we began to see tangible results in Puerto Rico. Babies were being saved from abortion, and there were many “turnaways,” where mothers chose life for their children after hearing the message of hope. We were encouraged by these victories and pressed on, knowing that every life saved was a testament to God’s mercy and grace. The Lord then, by His grace and mercy, led us to New Jersey. Here, we became members of the Presbyterian Reformed Church of Corbin City and started a new chapter of our abortion outreach ministry.
Our efforts became more organized, and we partnered with other believers who shared our conviction to protect the unborn and support families in crisis. We began regular outreach at the abortion clinic in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Through these efforts, we have had the privilege of reaching more than ten individuals facing difficult decisions. Our approach is always grounded in compassion, prayer, and the truth of the Gospel. We seek not only to save the lives of unborn children but also to offer hope and practical help to mothers and families.
A recent example of God’s work in this ministry occurred on July 18, 2026, when two babies were saved, one from a family in North Jersey and the other from a family traveling up from Georgia. These moments remind us why we do this work and of God’s faithfulness in answering prayers. We are continuing to follow up with these families, seeking to support their needs both spiritually and physically. This includes ongoing discipleship, connecting them with resources, and ensuring they have what they need as they move forward. Our outreach is committed to serving with love and integrity, trusting that God will continue to use us to make a difference in the lives of many more families. Continue to pray for our efforts to end abortion worldwide, but especially in the USA.
“To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” 1 Corinthians 9:22
“If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain.” Proverbs 24:11
God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:1-4
