Welcome! At West Port Audio, I’m developing a Reformed audio library of quality, amateur recordings to fill gaps and so assist church officers and others who have narrower margins of time to sit and read. Some of these categories are periods or streams of Reformed theology and piety, while others are various themes or figures. All links updated 3/30/24.
The latest additions can be found here. And if you would love to see a title here that you don’t see, drop me a note at michael at reformedparish dot com.
Biblical Commentary
Right now, just Calvin on this shelf. But who else belongs here more than he?
Catechesis & Confession
These audio recordings offer an array of material to ground and guide the Church in the much needed, but often neglected duty of catechizing, as well as matters pertaining to creeds, confessions, and confessional subscription. Books or larger works: A Plain Method of Catechizing, by Thomas Doolittle.
Church Government & Discipline
“On this rock will I build my Church.” These recordings reproduce time-honored contributions to Presbyterian ecclesiology, both theory and practice. Books or larger works: Jus Divinum: The Divine Right of Church Government, by Sundry Ministers of London (in progress).
Colonial Presbyterianism
Recordings here represent Presbyterianism in the American colonies prior to the Revolutionary War.
Continental Reformed
These audio resources (only in English!) are drawn from the Reformed heritage of continental Europe, especially the Netherlands and Germany.
English Puritanism
These audio resources feature much previously unrecorded material from some of the giants of Puritanism. Books or larger works: A Treatise of the Covenant of Grace, by John Ball (in progress), Sermons on Psalm 131 by Thomas Manton.
Free Church of Scotland
This collection focuses on the rich Free Church of Scotland heritage, from the Disruption of 1843 through the end of the century, with the Constitutionalists maintaining the old line into the early 20th century. [Note, my apologies to Scottish listeners for mispronunciations — and that your forbears now speak with an American accent!] Books or larger works: The Days of the Fathers in Ross-Shire, by John Kennedy of Dingwall.
New England Heritage
Somewhat sparse right now, but hoping to add more to this category among the old Puritans of New England and the evangelical heirs.
Old Church of Scotland
These audio resources tap into the legacy of the Kirk of John Knox, through the Second Reformation, the persecutions, the Restoration Settlement, up to the Disruption of 1843.
Old Princeton
This expanding collection of audio resources includes sermons, discourses, and articles by the great theologians of Old Princeton (1812-1929), the American bastion of Calvinist orthodoxy of the 19th century. Recordings of particular figures are divided out here.
Pastoral Theology
Presently working on Charles’ Bridges classic, The Christian Ministry. God willing, more to come. See here.
Southern Presbyterianism
The Secession Church
Birthed in 1733 in the aftermath of the Marrow Controversy, the Session Church in Scotland leaves the Church a great legacy. Recordings are accessible here.
Thomas Chalmers
Chalmers’ audio recordings feature a wide array of sermons, essays, and lectures. Read more about Chalmers and related resources here.

Have you been blessed by these recordings? Could you possibly help with a one-time gift, or perhaps a monthly recurring donation of $2, $3, or $5? Donations can be made here. Please earmark your contribution in the notes “WPE Audio,” as it will be processed through the Reformed Parish Mission. Donations will offset the monthly SermonAudio expenses; and any excess will go towards supporting my efforts to bring the Reformed faith to the working class, immigrant, and Hispanic populations here in the U.S.
